Back from Berlin

Kaum war Weihnachten überstanden sind wir, meine Liebste und ich, wieder einmal nach Berlin gefahren um dort das Jahr ausklingen zu lassen. Mit im Gepäck waren ein paar mehr Kameras als im Sommer und es sollten noch mehr werden.

Am 27. kamen wir an uns machten natürlich als erstes den obligatorischen Spaziergang durch vom Hauptbahnhof zum Alexanderplatz ein Besuch der Weihnachtsmärkte am Alex und am Roten Rathaus durften natürlich nicht fehlen.

Am Tag drauf ging ich auf die Jagd beim Hallenflohmarkt an der Arena und ich wurde fündig: Ich hab mich super gefreut zwischen den ganzen Trödel einen Prismasucher für meine kurzzuvor gekaufte EXA 1b zufinden, Polaroid-Fans werden schon direkt am Eingang fündig.

Beim Gehen sah ich, dass der Flohmarkt auch außerhalb der Halle weiter ging. Zum Glück, denn dort fand ich eine perfekt erhaltene Agfa Clack, eine Kamera, die ich unbedingt mitnehmen und mit dem XR 50-200 ISO Redscale-Film ausprobieren musste.

Für Sonntag hatten wir Karten für Hinter’m Horizont, einem wirklich empfehlenswerten Musical. Wir begannen den Tag jedoch mit dem Flohmarkt am Ostbahnhof. Meine Liebste schlenderte, ich rannte fast von Stand zu Stand und ja nicht eine einzige der vielen Kameras zu verpassen. Dass ich tatsächlich eine kaufen würde wusste ich als ich das ΛOMO-Logo sah. Trotz ähnlicher Haptik hatte ich keinen Ziegelstein sondern, eine LOMO Revue Auto RS in der Hand.
Am 30. ging es noch einmal durch Berlin-Mitte und diesmal auch zur Friedrichstraße

Als wir an der Festmeile am Brandenburger Tor ankamen, waren wir jedoch zu spät um noch Einlass zu erhalten. Zitat eines Polizeibediensteten: “…es sind schon mehrere Tausend Leute auf der Festmeile.” Insgesamt waren es wohl etwa 1 Millionen, wir feierten kurzer Hand in Spandau bei meinem Bruder mit Feuerzangenbowle, Sekt und dem Back to Future Trilogie-Cut.

Nachdem wir Silvester überstanden hatten machten wir an Neujahr noch einen Besuch bei einer besonderen Lomo-Location: Das ehemalige Kinder- & Jugendklinikum Weißensee, einem leerstehenden Kinderkrankenhaus, das dem Verfall überlassen wurde.

Am 2. Januar ging es bereits zurück nach Mülheim, Home sweet Home. Das war ein toller Trip, der bestimmt im nächsten Winter wiederholt wird. Werde wohl eine Review schreiben müssen, der Hallenflohmarkt ist sicher ein Location-Bericht wert, das Kinderklinikum auf jeden Fall.

When Christmas was over, my love and I went to Berlin, once again, to have a good time there at the end of the year. In the luggage a few were more cameras than in the summer and it should be even more.

On the 27th, we arrived and had our obligatory walk from the central station to the Alexanderplatz. A visit of the christmas fairs at the Alex and the Red Town Hall could not be missed of course.

The day after, I went on the hunt for the indoor flea market at the arena and I was looking for: I’m super happy to find a Prism viewfinder for my new purchased EXA 1B between all junk. Polaroid fans will find some right at the entrance.

While walking, I saw that the flea market outside the Hall continued. Fortunately, because there I found a perfectly preserved Agfa Clack, a camera that I had to buy and try out with the XR 50-200 ISO Redscale film.

On Sunday, we had tickets for Hinter’m Horizont, a really good musical. However, we started the day with the flea market on the Eastern railway station. My dearest strolled, I ran almost from stand to stand, not to miss a single camera there. I knew I would actually buy one when I saw the ΛOMO Logo. Despite similar feel, I hadn’t a brick but a LOMO Revue car RS in hands.

On the 30th, it was once again through Berlin-Mitte and this time also to Friedrichstrasse

We wanted to celebrate the new year at the Brandenburg Gate but before this we went to the Kurfürstendamm and the Christmas market at the Europacenter.

When we arrived at the celebration mile at the Brandenburg Gate, we were too late to still maintain intake. Quote of a police officers: “…there are already several thousand people on the celebration mile.” Overall, there were probably about 1 million, so we celebrated at my brother with Feuerzangenbowle, champagne and the Back to Future Trilogy-Cut in Spandau.

After we had survived new year’s eve we made a visit at a special Lomo location on new year’s day: the former children’s & youth clinic Weissensee, an empty children’s hospital, which has been left to decay.

On January 2 we already went back to Mülheim, home sweet home. It was a great trip, surely repeated in the next winter. Will need to write probably a review, indoor flea market is definitely probably worth a location report, the children hospital is in any case.
