The Grandfathered star has something extra to be thankful for this year. John Stamos won’t be facing any jail time or even community service for his DUI charge. In an arraignment hearing out at the Airport Courthouse this morning, the actor’s lawyer Blair Berk entered a plea of no contest to the June 12 incident in Beverly Hills.
As a consequence, Stamos will be put under informal probation for the next 36 months and pay a $390 fine for the DUI Drug charge, a misdemeanor. The Fuller House actor and producer, who was not in the courtroom on Tuesday, will have to attend a DMV class on the matter, some one-on-one counseling sessions as well as other such requirements. His probation and classes are not expected to affect Stamos’ work on the Fox comedy, which is actually on hiatus this week.
Formally charged by L.A. County District Attorney Jackie Lacey’s office on October 15, Stamos faced the daunting potential of 6-months behind bars. Though honestly, that is something that rarely happens in such matters – especially considering that this is a first offense. Cited a being “under the influence of a drug” in the L.A. D.A. charge, Stamos entered a treatment program almost immediately after the summer incident when Bev Hills police pulled him over for “behaving strangely and driving erratically.” An initial hearing set for October 16 was put over until today last month.
Grandfathered has its own Thanksgiving themed episode on Fox tonight – bet that turkey will now taste extra good, on and off screen.
