Eagles' Chip Kelly 'pleased' with Sam Bradford, won't be changing quarterbacks

PHILADELPHIA -- Eagles head coach Chip Kelly gave Sam Bradford a vote of confidence Monday, less than 24 hours after the team's wide receivers did little to foster any such confidence in the team's quarterback.

"No, not at all," Kelly said Monday at the NovaCare Complex when asked if he has given any thought to making a change at quarterback. "Because I think our quarterback is playing well. I think our quarterback is playing well. I'm pleased with Sam. Very pleased with Sam."

Through the first seven games of the season Bradford, whom the Eagles acquired in an offseason trade with the St. Louis Rams for Nick Foles and a second-round draft choice, has thrown for 1,766 yards, nine touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

EAGLES LOSE TO PANTHERS: Good, bad, ugly from 27-16 defeat

While his performance against the Panthers was uninspiring from a statistical standpoint; 205 yards on 26-of-46 passing attempts with one interception, it is difficult to pin the blame for the loss on the quarterback's shoulders while the wide receivers struggled mightily to simply catch the football.

Officially, Eagles wide receivers dropped seven passes Sunday, but that number has been left up to interpretation as Pro Football Focus estimates the number at as high as 20. With that many missed opportunities, it would be difficult for any quarterback to succeed or any team to overcome so many mistakes and win a football game against an unbeaten opponent on the road.

The Eagles now enter the bye week at 3-4, but despite inconsistent play throughout the season from the quarterback position, it appears it will be Bradford and not Mark Sanchez behind center in Dallas on November 8.
