Remember when a song about unions was actually played on the radio? It was 1973, and the band was the Strawbs. "Part of the Union" went to No. 2 on the UK charts.
My beloved dad was a union member, and he'd come home and talk about contract negotiations at the dinner table. (Guess that's where my interest in politics began.)
