Our traditional elementary school consists of 370 students from Pre-K all the way through 5th grade. The students come from a wide array of backgrounds, ages, and languages. They are extremely curious, driven, and passionate about learning new things. They would love the opportunity to think critically through STEM challenges.
In a typical day in my technology classroom, students research, think critically, share their ideas digitally, and solve problems through makerspace projects.
We our hoping to provide them with more opportunities to think critically.
My Project
In our elementary school, we're making an effort to include technology, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) projects, and Makerspaces into our library program. In order to make these ideas come alive, we need your support to purchase a 3D printer, animation software, and building tools.
The 3D printer will be used primarily for our 4th and 5th graders who will begin designing small projects, using TinkerCAD, and printing their designs.
The animation software will be used by all students to create animated cartoon about what they've researched. They can recreate Bent's Fort during our Colorado History unit or create an animation of our Solar System. Our Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd graders will use the building tools to begin the process of designing and creating. Each student in our building will have a new tool to use with the purchase of a 3D printer, animation software, or the building tools.
