Evade police incident, Townsville

Officers from Townsville were able to successfully stop two vehicles which had been reported stolen on the Bruce Highway early this morning.

Around 2.25am, it will be alleged police were notified that the suspected stolen vehicles had been located near Ayr travelling north towards Townsville.

The vehicles entered the Townsville District shortly before 3am and a short time later, tyre deflation devices were successfully deployed by officers.

One vehicle stopped and two women were taken into custody without further incident.

The other vehicle continued to drive on its rims.

Around 3.25am a number of police vehicles travelling behind the stolen vehicle caused it to slow down and stop, with a man taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.

The man and a female police officer received minor injuries as a result of the incident.

A man and two women are currently assisting police with their enquiries.

Investigations are continuing.
