Granite, one of the State Rocks of Vermont, is abundant in the northeastern section of Vermont. This sample was collected from the Rock of Ages quarry in Barre. The granite is Devonian in age (around 380 million years old). This rock is a medium gray, fine- to medium- grained, limestone with fossil fragments.
