Ecumenical gathering of Anti-Trinitarians

All cults have a common denominator, almost all think they are the one true church or religion.

Yet there is another common teaching....Islam, Buddhism, J.W., Mormons, Bahais, Iglesia Ni christo, Unitarians, Moonies, the Way, just about every religion and cult that denies the deity also denies the triunity.

Here are some quotes from familiar anti-Trinitarians.

Islam

Islam

The originator of heavens and earth! How can He have a child, when there is for Him no consort ...? (Qur'an 6:102)

And (we believe that He - exalted be the glory of our Lord - hath taken neither wife nor son.( Qur'an 72:3 )

Sura 43:59 states "Jesus was no more than a mortal whom Allah favored and made an example to the Israelites. They are unbelievers who say God is Messiah, Mary’s son."

Jehovah Witnesses (C.T.Russell)

"The origin of the trinity is traced back to the Babylonians and Egyptians."

It is difficult to love and worship a complicated, freakish looking, three headed God."(Let God be true 2nd ed. p101-102)

There was therefore a time when Jehovah was all alone in universal space."(meaning God the Father)

"… The answer is obvious that there is only one Jehovah...If he is one Jehovah, then could he be three gods, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost, as the Trinitarians teach?" (Watchtower, April 1, 1970. p. 210)

"the doctrine originated from Satan" (Make sure of all things 1953 p.386)

Christadelphians

We reject that God is 3 persons "We reject the doctrine of the Son of God was co-eternal with the Father."

"Jesus Christ did not exist as a person from eternity as one of the triune Godhead..."He did not actually come into being until he was begotten of the Holy spirit in Bethlehem."( Christadelphian messenger no.46, the word made flesh, p.3)

Mormonism (J.Smith)

"Many men say there is one God the Father , Son and the H.Ghost are only one God. I say that is a strange God anyhow- three in one , and one in three.

Jesus speaking... For behold I Am the father." Ether 4:12(Modalism)

"Three separate personages-Father, Son and holy Ghost- comprise the Godhead…these three are the only Gods we worship."(Mormon doctrine 1966 ed. P.576-577)

Former W.W.Church of God (leader H. Armstrong)

"The concept of the trinity is nowhere to be found in the Bible it has been formed by men under the influence of Satan. The trinity doctrine maintains the godhead is a closed unit into which no one else can enter." (Good news Nov 1990 p.10)

Iglesia Ni Christo (Felix Manalo)

"If there is any verse which people claim proves the alleged deity of Christ, this verse has been wrongly interpreted by the people."(Pasugo 1984 May/june p.14)

"Col.1:15 states very clearly, Christ is ‘the firstborn of every creature,’ and is therefore not the creator."(Pasugo Jan/.Feb 1980 p.37)

"We now affirm that Jn.1:1 does not call Jesus Christ God…’It does not teach the doctrine of the Trinity."(Gods message July/Sept 1995 p.14)

Bahai

Was Christ within god, or God within Christ ? No in the name of God. " (Abdul Baha Questions pg 97)

"The revelation of Jesus was for His own dispensation -that of 'the Son.' Now it is no longer the point of guidance to the world. ... All the teachings of the past are past." Abdu'l-Baha is now supplying all the world."(C.M. REMEY. "Star of the west Dec.31 1913

Each period of history through a chosen Individual Whom Bahais call "the Manifestation of God." He restates in every age God's purpose and will. His teachings are a revelation from God. Abraham, Moses -Krishna, Buddha, Zoroaster, Christ, and Muhammad were Manifestations of God. (Tract on Basic facts of the Baha’i faith Bahai publishing trust wilmette Illinois)

The Way int. (Victor Paul Wierville)

"... The gospel of John established the truth of Gods word that Jesus Christ was was the son of God, not "God the Son" or God himself"Jesus Christ is not God (New Knoxville press 1975 p.79)

"Trinitarian dogma placing Jesus Christ on Gods level degrades God and leaves man unredeemed.(Ad for Jesus Christ is not God)

"Those who teach that Jesus Christ is God and God is Jesus Christ will never stand approved in "rightly dividing" Gods word, for there is only one God...The bible clearly teaches that Jesus Christ was a man conceived by the Holy Spirit..."(Ibid.)

Speaking on ancient religions,"Although many of these religions had many minor deities, they distinctly acknowledged that there was one supreme God who consisted of three persons or essences."(Ibid.p.19-20)

Unification Church (Sung Yung Moon)

"Unification theology starts with the fact of polarity as the main clue for understanding the essential nature of God. hence it is not primarily interested in defending Trinitarian doctrine of the 4th century creeds." (Unification Theology p.53)

The Holy Spirit,…"appears feminine, masculine and impersonal… like God himself. .is invisible and incorporeal- a bright light or a field of magnetic energy. (Unification Theology p.201-202)

Mediums

James Pike a medium "The Trinity is not necessary our Lord never heard of it the apostles knew nothing of it." (NYC Aug.30 1964)

The White Eagle lodge

"that God the eternal spirit is both Father and mother...that the son-the cosmic Christ-is also the light which shines in the human heart."

Unity

"God is Spirit, or creative energy which is the cause of all visible things… each rock, tree, animal everything visible, is a manifestation of the one spirit-God- differing only in degree of manifestation; and each of the numberless modes of manifestation, or individualities, however insignificant, contains the whole."(Lessons in truth H.E. Cady p.6,8)

Unitarian

"One God and only one, the father, a Spirit..."

"Jesus is not God the Son , but the son of God his sonship consisting in moral god-likenesss,"

Oneness Pentecostals (Jesus only)

"Trinitarianism is of the devil" William Branham.

"...not one place in the Bible is trinity ever mentioned...It's Catholic error and you Protestants bow to it" (Conduct, Order, Doctrine Q and A, p. 182). "Father, Son, and Holy Ghost is offices of one God. He was the Father; He was the Son; He is the Holy Ghost. It's three offices or three dispensations,"  Conduct, Order, Doctrine p. 392). "But Father, Son, and Holy Ghost has one name, the Lord Jesus Christ," (ibid, p.392).

"If we understand the doctrine of Christ we will realize Jesus is both the Father and the Son." (The Oneness of God D. Bernard p. 191)

"The Son of God existed from all eternity only as a plan in the mind of God." (The Oneness of God D. Bernard p.295)

"…Trinitarianism is a doctrine that does not belong to Christianity." (The Oneness of God D. Bernard p.294)

"We do not believe in a three-person Trinity, we believe that Jesus Christ was God manifest in the flesh. We do not believe that the terms `Trinity' - `God the Son', `God the Father', `God the Holy Ghost', `eternal Son', the `first, second, and third persons in the Trinity' are either scriptural or correct. We believe the doctrine of the Trinity was a product of pagan mythology and Grecian philosophy." ( 1985 the John Ankerberg Show, Rev. Nathaniel Urshan U.P.C)

OUR RESPONSE:

It is a reality too often repeated, that when the nature of God is distorted, all the rest of Christian doctrines come under it's rippling effect. The Puritan, Steven Charnock rightly said "The eternity of Christ is the ground of the Christian religion" (Works, Vol.1, p.361)

Waterland states "If God be Father, Son and Holy Ghost, the duties owing to God will be the duties owing to that triune distinction, which must be paid accordingly; and whoever leaves any of them out of his idea of God, comes so far short of honoring God perfectly, and of serving him in proportion to the manifestations he has made of himself". ( Cited in Lewis Sperry Chafer Systematic theology vol.1 p.278)

"If Jesus is not God, then there is no Christianity, and we who worship Him are nothing more than idolaters. Conversely, if He is God, those who say he was merely a good man, or even the best of men, are blasphemers. More serious still, if He is not God, then He is a blasphemer in the fullest sense of the word. If He is not God, He is not even good.

It has rightly been maintained that there is no stopping between Unitarianism and rationalism after Christ. The deity of Christ is the key doctrine of Scripture. Reject it, and the Bible becomes a confused jumble of words devoid of any unifying theme. Accept it, and the Bible becomes an intelligible and ordered revelation of God in the person of Jesus Christ. Christ is the center of Christianity, and the conception we form of Christianity is therefore the conception we have of Him. He must be acknowledged in his rightful place.

Our belief in the deity of Christ is, in the final analysis, based on our faith in the Scriptures. We believe Him to be the Son of God because we accept the teaching of Holy Scripture and its statements about Him. When we assert belief in the deity of Christ we mean that the person known to history as Jesus of Nazareth existed in eternity before he became man, as the infinite and eternal God, the second Person of the Trinity .

The very basis of Christianity is that Jesus was God manifest in the flesh (I Timothy 3:16). If that assertion can be overthrown, then the whole superstructure of Christianity crashes to the ground, and we are bound to assume that Jesus was either a shameless impostor or that He suffered from a delusion".  (The Incomparable Christ J. Oswald Sanders p.53)

All the cults have a common denominator, all think they are the one true church or religion. They deny the deity of Christ, and the nature of God as tri-une. By doing this they have lost the Biblical Christ, and the heart of the message of Christian teaching. God came as man so we could personally understand and know him. In doing this they cannot teach about having a relationship, but only point to there being a God whom one cannot know personally.
