277 GAME stores shuttered, 2,104 jobs cut
GAME's administration has resulted in some serious bloodletting.
MCV has a full list of the 277 GAME and Gamestation stores closed during the first day of administration by PWC.
While the firm said earlier that it believes there is still room for a high street specialist chain, it made significant closures across the UK and Ireland; up to 300 outlets are expected to shutter.
2,104 former employees have already found themselves suddenly jobless. Our best wishes for all those affected.
Competing retailers have been quick to pick up the slack; Darkzero reports online retailer ShopTo offered newly registered customers a £3 discount on their first order when they turn in their now useless GAME loyalty cards.
The offer was met with cries of bad taste and has since vanished from the retailer's front page.
