The latest installment in the wildly popular Call of Duty franchise is still six months away, but already the game's publisher Activision has launched its first official trailer.

The nearly three-minute trailer shows footage captured on the Xbox One version of the game. The first thing that will strike gamers is the setting. Unlike previous Call of Duty titles, which featured contemporary environments, Advanced Warfare is designed to focus on "battlegrounds of the future, where both technology and tactic have evolved."

The Call of Duty franchise is a perennial favorite among first-person shooter fans, but some critics have suggested that the games have seen better days, and they've become derivative in their experiences. Advanced Warfare will attempt to change that by changing the milieu from one we might recognize to one focused on the future.

Interestingly, famed actor and "House of Cards" star Kevin Spacey makes an appearance in the game. It appears that Spacey will play a powerful politician, though further details on his role in the game are unknown at this point.

With the E3 gaming expo right around the corner, it's likely we'll be hearing much more about Advanced Warfare soon. Until then, you can watch the trailer and expect to see the title hit store shelves on November 4.
