Victoria Beckham and Mel B are AT WAR after Posh belts out Spice Girls hits on Carpool Karaoke

SPICE Girls Mel B and Victoria Beckham are said to be at war after Posh’s decision to perform the girlband’s hits on James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke.

The fashion designer, 42, came out of singing retirement to feature in the popular segment of the Brit host’s US chat show, which has become a global phenomenon.

But her soon-to-be-divorced bandmate is said to be livid that Victoria is now using the girls' old material to promote her own career despite reports that she scuppered the Spice Girls' planned reunion by threatening legal action if they performed their hits.

Mel, 41, is also said to be preparing to battle Victoria over her decision to use Spice songs in her advertising campaign for Target.

A source said: “Mel is livid Victoria is all of a sudden embracing her Spice Girls past after years of trying to distance herself from the band.

“She was desperate for the girls to go on a very lucrative reunion tour to celebrate their music with millions of fans.

“But once Posh pulled out, the idea began to crumble leaving the members of the band who were keen to perform having no choice but to ditch it.

“Mel feels it’s unfair Victoria is now using their music to boost her own profile.”

Previous A-listers to have sung alongside the Gavin & Stacey star include Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Lopez, Adele and Michelle Obama.

Speaking about the Spice Girls comeback in October, Victoria gave her former bandmates the go-ahead to perform without her but said they should concentrate on new material.

Asked by TV presenter Claudia Winkleman if she wished them luck, she said: “Of course, as a new group, I do.

“I do think they should sing their own material though, because what we did in the Spice Girls was so special. If they sang Spice Girls songs I think I might be a bit sad.”

The Sun on Sunday also revealed Posh would seek legal action to prevent them from singing their classics on tour, as she still owns writing credits to hits including 2 Become 1 and Spice Up Your Life.

The latter is currently being used on Posh’s campaign for her first ever high street clothing range at US supermarket chain Target.

But source close to Victoria said: “Fans will love the fact that Posh is going back to her Spice roots.

“It proves why the band really did mean so much to her and why she’s in the position she’s in today.”

When Posh pulled out of the reunion, her band-mate Mel C soon followed believing a comeback would only work with a complete line up including Geri Horner and Emma Bunton.

She said: “It’s not really doing the band justice to go out as a four piece. Whoever’s missing, it doesn’t matter. I think for me Spice girls is like a jigsaw puzzle.”
