Munak Canal repaired

Relief for Dwarka by weekend

March 10, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:33 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Water flowed through the Munak Canal on Wednesday, after repairs to the carrier-lined channel were completed two weeks after it was damaged by protesters during the recent Jat agitation in Haryana.

The CLC has the capacity of 750 cusecs, of which 400 cusecs of water was released to Delhi on Wednesday. A total of 25 million gallons per day was lifted at Iradat Nagar pump house for supplying to the Dwarka treatment plant.

“Full supply will be restored by Friday. Finally, after 15 days people of Dwarka will be getting relief from water shortage,” said DJB chairperson Kapil Mishra. Protestors had caused a 200-foot breach in the CLC on February 21.
