Winfield officers raising money for lifesaving equipment

The Winfield Police Department kicked off a fundraiser Monday to help pay for new life-saving equipment. Officer Marcus Carroll tells ABC 33/40, they are selling t-shirts to help offset the costs of Quikclot belt trauma kits. Carroll says the wearable kits will be worn by Winfield officers at all times. The kits could save someone's life in a trauma situation.

Each kits cost $67.50, which means Winfield needs about $850 to get each officer a kit. All size t-shirts are available for $15. Carroll says you can place your order at the Winfield Police Department.

Winfield Police got the idea to buy the Quikclot trauma kits from The Cordova Police Department. Chief Nick Smith's Officers have been using them for a while.

If the department raises more than their goal extra kits will be purchased to have on standby, Carroll said.
