Reject Increased Cancer Risk Level; Approve New Fish Consumption Rate
Reject Increased Cancer Risk Level; Approve New Fish Consumption Rate
Why this petition matters
Do you eat more than one serving of fish per month? If so, Washington State's water quality standards are not protecting you, and we need you to submit comments urging the State to protect you from increased cancer risk levels.
The State proposes a tenfold increase to our exposure to cancer risk. From one in a million, they propose to increase our risk to one in 100,000. We need the State to maintain its current more protective risk level.
The State has proposed to increase the fish consumption rate to one fish meal per day, and we need to support that change. This will advance health equity for all Washingtonians.
Sign this petition to submit comments to the State urging it to reject the tenfold increase to our cancer risk level and supporting an increased fish consumption rate.
The deadline for submitting comments is midnight March 23, 2015.
Yours in advancing human rights,
Ethel Branch, Co-Chair of the Seattle Human Rights Commission
