Desperately seeking a website designer:
We are currently looking for a mentor to help one of our clients set up their own website and learn to manage it. Our client is a motivated talented poet who has already had a poetry collection published, however our client has very little experience of online publishing. They are looking to start a new career in this creative field and are desperate for a mentor to help guide and keep them motivated to make this change. Our client has already overcome extreme odds and trauma but we are keen to help her achieve her dream with this final piece of the recovery jigsaw. Can you Help? Are you working in a creative sector? Do you have experience and knowledge which could help our client defy the odds against her? Ideally you would be able to commit to 1 hour a week to help our client achieve this outcome of setting up her own website and help her start to publish more of her work.
Socksmas:
Thanks to Robby for donation of 200 pairs of socks. And indeed to the many people who donated to us over the festive season. It made a huge difference to the lives of our clients.
Welcome Marco:
Marco joined some of his Hestia colleagues this week who are using our office space as their base. We are working with Hestia on our mental health peer, and employment contracts.
Fit&Well:
Some New Year resolutions still continue this week with a brave effort by some of us to go on our weekly walk down to Gladstone Park. We hope that more people will join this weekly outing.
A little of what we do at Ashford Place:
Ancestry:
Jackson had a school project to complete so we he askes us for some help. American born, he is keen to exlore his Irish roots. His ancestors went to America from Ireland many many years ago but during his time here with his family in London he wanted to hear the stories and memories of older Irish people here in London. This week a group of our older Irish clients met at the Clayton Crown over a drink (tea), courtesy of the Clayton Crown and were filmed by Jackson and some of his class mates and answered the many questions Jackson put to them about their memories of Ireland and of coming here to England. Jackson says he has some great material which he will now edit for his project. We look forward to seeing the final cut.
