Your Guide to Building the Best Burger

Backyard cookouts happen every week during summer-which means you'll have your fair share of beef burgers with lettuce, tomato, and ketchup by Labor Day. And while you can never argue with the classic, it can lead to burger burnout.

Add these gourmet combos to your grilling mix, though, and the flavor-packed patties partnered with the perfect condiments and toppers will keep you happy until you have to (begrudgingly) put your grill away. They're as easy to make as any basic burger-but your guests don't need to know that!

Directions: Combine main player(s) with seasonings and form into four patties (use a food processor for bean and lentil burgers). Grill or pan-fry, flipping once, until cooked through (ground pork, beef, and bison should be cooked to an internal temperature of 160 degrees; ground poultry should reach 165 degrees). Place burgers on bread or leafy green wrap of choice, and add condiment and topping.
