Veteran celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck has revealed that he finds Victoria Beckham 'uptight' and says that the star only orders spinach or other steamed vegetables when visiting his upmarket LA restaurant.

Austrian-born Puck, 66, who is known for cooking for Hollywood's A-listers at the Oscars ceremony every year, lifted the lid on Mrs Beckham's saintly attitude to food...and her less than friendly approach to fellow diners.

He said that the Beckhams are regulars at his popular Cut restaurant in Los Angeles and while David, 42, will happily tuck into a steak, Victoria, 41, prefers just vegetables.

Puck, who laid on the catering at the couple's 'Welcome to LA' party in 2008 when David arrived in Calfornia to play football for LA Galaxy, told Heat magazine: 'David's there with a steak and she's there with vegetables.'

He added, without holding back: 'She's uptight. Everything has to be right, she's not interested in talking to anyone.'

Puck said that while he enjoyed a friendly relationship with former football star David, who he could 'talk and talk' to, he didn't feel the same way about Victoria, even suggesting that she has a 'game face' for public appearances.

And when it comes to Mrs B's food choices, Puck reveals his kitchen will prepare a simple plate of spinach, with just 'a touch of salt'.

A definite fan...but will Victoria, pictured here at Puck's Spago restaurant in 2007 with Katie Holmes, still frequent the chef's eateries now she knows how he really feels?

Hollywood favourite Puck, who has laid on the food for celebrities at the Academy Awards Governor's Ball for the last 22 years, described David as a 'straight eater' saying the star has simple tastes when it comes to dining but that the 40-year-old is always impeccably dressed.

It isn't just Victoria who has a penchant for vegetables though.

Puck has also revealed that cooking for the Oscars' crowd requires a lot of food, because some actors have been watching their weight in the days leading up to the ceremony.

He said that female A-listers especially were keen to look great in their gowns with some avoiding food for 'three or four days' beforehand.

Chef Wolfgang Puck has a net worth estimated to be around $75 million (£52 million).

Married to Ethiopian designer Gelila Assefa, whom he wed in 2007, he has four children, two from his second marriage and two with Assefa.

Born in Sankt Veit an der Glan, Carinthia, Austria, Puck picked up the art of cooking from his mother.

He began his career as an apprentice under Raymond Thuilier at L'Oustau de Baumanière in Les Baux-de-Provence, at Hotel de Paris in Monaco, and at Maxim's Paris.

In 1973, Puck moved to the United States age 24.

He now owns a host of upscale, casual, and fine dining restaurants across the U.S., including the world-famous Spago in Beverly Hills, which he opened over thirty years ago and Cut.

The celebrity chef is also known for his cookware, knives, coffee makers and rice steamers.

Ahead of this year's Oscars, Puck revealed the preferences of Hollywood stars including Charlize Theron and Sylvester Stallone who, he said, are fans of his smoked salmon pizza.

Stallone especially loves it, said Puck, when the the salmon is cut to look like mini Oscar statues.

His classic comfort dishes like Mac n' cheese are popular with John Travolta and his pot pies are quickly devoured by fans like Barbara Streisand and Prince Albert of Monaco.

'Prince Albert of Monaco, he came two years ago, we gave him the chicken potpie and he said, "Oh my God, you have to open a restaurant in Monaco. That’s the best thing I ever had," ' recalls Puck. 'I told him, "Don’t tell that to [famed chef and Monaco native] Alain Ducasse."'
