This book is a collection of portraits of the author's favourite literary heroines accompanied by her favourite quote from each character. To start with the watercolour illustrations are absolutely gorgeous and the characters depicted are from a wide variety of literature.

The portraits made me re-evaluate how I’ve imagined the characters from the books I’ve already read and I know I’ll be returning to this book each time I read more of the novels involved. Although this book takes a very short time to read, it is a great coffee table book to flick through. I know I will cherish this book for a long time.

Dieses wundervolle Buch spricht Fans von Literatur und Kunst gleichermaßen an. Auf über 100 Seiten wird pro Doppelseite jeweils ein Zitat einer bekannten Protagonistin der Literatur mit wundervollen Illustrationen in Szene gesetzt, wobei auch der Text künstlerisch gestaltet ist. Bei den Illustrationen handelt es sich um farbige Aquarelle, welche aber trotzdem so unterschiedlich umgesetzt sind, dass die Zusammenstellung nicht eintönig wirkt.

Die Auswahl der literarischen Figuren und ihrer Zitate finde ich sehr gelungen, wobei es sich zum Großteil um Figuren der klassischen Literatur handelt (z.B. Charaktere von Jane Austen, William Shakespeare, etc.).

Zu diesem Schmuckstück werde ich bestimmt künftig noch oft greifen, sei es zum Lesen der schönen Zitate oder zum Betrachten der schönen Illustrationen!
