Bulldog Briefs 2015 - Rd 16 summary and club news

Dear Members, sponsors and supporters,

Mixed results once again last Saturday afternoon; with reserves winning - coming from behind, however the seniors unable to get over the line. In the morning U19s, featuring some U17s, had a practice match against Croydon; it was a good hit out for both teams, and helped with an early crowd. Ground surface condition has deteriorated with the recent rain, but relative to other years it's still in reasonable shape.We have another home fixture against Knox this week and a final chance for all three teams to perform in front of a home crowd.

Before the senior game we held a final 'President's Lunch' for approx 40 members and guests including Montrose committee and supporters. The speaker was Dale White who gave a frank and interesting account of his time at the football club and how some of the leadership values gained have translated into him being able to be involved in two very successful businesses, with more expansion on the near horizon. Thank you Dale for your time and also the sample brews!

A final word about last Saturday; an incident occurred during the third quarter, that while amused us all for a minute or so, is certainly not something the club endorses, encourages or condones. As we continue to try and become more professional and build a family environment,this wasn't a good look for us. Rant over!

** SCFC JUNIOR GRAND FINALISTS
Last week I mentioned the U12 losing and incorrectly implied that their run was over. In fact they had the second chance and won again last Sunday! This is a fantastic result which means that both U12s and U14s are in GRAND FINALS this Sunday. Again congratulations to all concerned. Please try and get to the games and support our future senior players! win, lose or draw - Junior parents and players from these teams along with any other interested supporter will gather at CHEONG PARK SOCIAL rooms this Sunday from 4 pm for some reflection and hopefully celebration! All welcome!
** VETERANS FINALS CAMPAIGN
Congratulations to SCFC Vets who tuned up for their third consecutive finals appearance with a 158 point win last Sunday, also ending the season top of ladder third year running. Well done to all concerned, super effort. We now need all senior team supporters and players to get behind the team. First final day is 23 August at Lilydale Sports Oval - keep an eye out for the time of the match, expected to be the early game around 12 noon.
** U17 and U19 BREAKFAST
This Saturday we have invited U19 and U17 parents to the rooms to watch our U19s and join us for a light breakfast. With some U17 players having a run with our U19s for the remainder of the senior season, this will be a good opportunity for U17 players and parents to meet some of the senior club coaches and office bearers, and start to get a feel for what to expect for season 2016. Notices have been sent to players and parents; please let us now if you can join us so we can ensure correct catering.

** CLASH STRIPS
Missed showing you this last week, but the seniors and reserves wore their new clash/away strip against Rowville a couple of weeks ago. We think it looks great and hope to use it more often next season. Great work by the players on this initiative. Keen to get your feedback on what you all think... maybe need matching socks!

Refer to the summaries below and check out the full results via the links to the EFL match centres.
Seniors
The conditions were tough but the same for both sides. We just could not get enough score on the board. Last chance to have a win at home coming up - the coach suggested on Saturday night changes were afoot. Anyone selected must commit and give their all. Best for us included Jimmy, Stevie, Nic, Riley Dano and Hughsey. Watch a reply of the game at the EFL Match Footage Hub.
Seniors Results
Development Squad
Awesome come from behind effort by the lads. Kicking 5 goals in the last quarter, of a 7 goal total match score, was a indication of really overrunning the opposition. Most pleasing were the real contributions by many of the U19 lads playing up a level, and this is reflected in award getters. Better players were Fitzy Jnr, Evan, Pierce, Teddy, Pezza and Jobey.
Reserves Results
Under 19s
Forfeit win as Montrose have withdrawn their team. The opportunity to play Croydon (who had a bye) in a practice game was too good to pass. This gave the coach a chance to play a few of the U17s who have completed their season. Will be great to have all the top age boys up at the senior club in 2016!
U19s - forfeit results
Veterans - Rd 9
Sunday was the Vets last home and away game for 2015 and what a way to finish! We played at home vs South Wantirna and recorded a 158 point win, we kept the opposition goalless for the entire game. Travis Lambe finished with 8 goals for the game and for the second year running won the Vets league goal kicking competition for the year. Best players included Ace, Hammer, Lambe, Rhett, Toddy and Newtz.
It has been another great season for the Vets, who finished on top for the third successive year and head into another finals campaign as the team to beat. Well done to everyone that has been a part of the Vets throughout the year. As mention above finals this year are at Lilydale again and kick off on Sunday 23rd of August. Please come along and cheer the old boys on!
Veterans

Rd 14 - the final fixture for Div 3 and 4 was last Friday night. Thank you to all the netball coordinators for the inaugural season of SCFC netball. well done to all the players who generally went out each week against stronger teams but stuck at it! As I understand the break up is being planned.. Trip away ladies??!!

Hopefully we can field teams again next year, if the interest remains strong and I'm sure that with a season's experience under our belts more wins will come. will also be looking for some more detailed reports next year to share with all our members!

SC K9's Red
K9's Red played Boronia Brown. Another competitive game, but not quite enough score power.
SC K9's Red Results
SC K9's Blue
K9's Blue played Montrose Devils. A really close game that could have gone either way, just a few goals short at the final whistle. Great effort ladies!

* Did you know that the Ringwood East Community Bank Branch of Bendigo Bank pay referrals to the club when a club member banks with them? If you have loan, account or other banking needs consider Bendigo Bank. For details of referrals paid please click on this link.

* CareMonkey
CareMonkey is a health & safety system used by sporting clubs and other groups with a duty of care (such as schools). It reduces risks for players by making their emergency contact and medical details instantly available to authorised officials (such as coaches and team managers) on mobile devices ensuring that the carer knows who to call and what to do in an emergency. On this side of the Country we have a number of large Junior and Senior Football Clubs using CareMonkey. The data is entered by the parent or senior member themselves via an innovative user controlled electronic medical form that eliminates paper forms and administration overhead. It can be updated at any time ensuring the most accurate data is instantly available to the coach/official on smartphones, tablets and a secure website. CareMonkey also has injury reporting allowing officials to log the injury report immediately from their mobile device. The system solves a massive problem for any school or club - keeping emergency and medical information up to date and also making it accessible to the people responsible for delivering the care - even without internet access.
You can learn more about CareMonkey through the following videos;
