In June, the upstairs bar at Prime de Leon will serve as an intermediate home for many of the Spritis of Bacchus bartenders.

Spirits of Bacchus has a new home.

If only temporarily.

"It's going to be called the Bacchus Room at Prime, or something along those lines," said Bacchus founder Suzy Lewis. "It will be owned and run by Prime. I'm sending my bartenders over there until I can get a new space ready."

Fans of the almost 15-year-old Bacchus, which will close June 1 when Lewis and her staff must vacate their longtime space at 1406 Hendry St. in downtown Fort Myers, will be able to find their favorite bartenders, drinks and wines at this stopgap location upstairs at nearby Prime de Leon.

Bacchus forced to move after 15 years in downtown Fort Myers

"I don't want to lose them. It's not easy to find bartenders like mine," Lewis said. "I was going to just keep paying them until we got the new place ready, but this is a much better solution."

Lewis said she has found a few downtown Fort Myers units that could work for her concept, but she declined to say where "until a lease is signed."

Spirits of Bacchus will have to leave its longtime location on Hendry Street in downtown Fort Myers in June.

With June 1 fast approaching, Lewis couldn't say when Bacchus would fully reopen.

"We're going to have to do a build-out," she said, "and that always takes time."
