Today Microsoft released an official statement clarifying the reason for removing the update from both MCT and its Windows Update service:
Recently we learned of an issue that could have impacted an extremely small number of people who had already installed Windows 10 and applied the November update. Once these customers installed the November update, a few of their settings preferences may have inadvertently not been retained. For these customers, we will restore their settings over the coming days and we apologize for the inconvenience. We worked to resolve the issue as quickly as possible – it will not impact future installs of the November update, which is available today.
For those who already updated to build 10586, Microsoft has released a cumulative update that you can use to restore the appropriate privacy settings.
If you want to perform clean installs and or use their existing Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1 product keys to perform a new or in place upgrades can download updated ISO images using the Media Creation Tool once again. Be sure to check out our article for instructions here.

Yeah, a couple of people mention that even after 7 days, if you’re within the return window, you can simply buy the product again at the lower price and submit a return for the original one. In fact, when you receive the new (lower-priced) one, you can turn it around and send *it* back as if it were the original (higher-priced) one since it’s still in its packaging (which you might have neglected to save for the original one). And yes it is extremely stupid that Amazon will in effect allow you to do this but won’t honor the lower price directly after 7 days even though it would save them outbound *and* inbound (return) shipping costs.
