ISRO to launch probe to Sun by 2020

India’s space research organisation (ISRO) is gearing up for a major leap in space science on behalf of the country to unravel the mysteries of our solar system.

The research organization is planning to launch a key mission to study our home star – Sun.

According to the director of ISRO satellite centre in Bangalore, Mylswamy Annadurai, ISRO would launch ‘Aditya-L1’, the first Indian mission to study the sun by 2020.

ISRO will be launching four more satellites this year or to be precise in the coming three months. The launches four satellites – INSAT-3DR and SCATSAT-1 (September), GSAT-18 (October) and ResourceSat-2A (November) are in pipeline. He was speaking to media at a function in a private college.

ISRO to launch the first indigenously made space shuttle

In three years ISRO has set a target of launching 70 satellites. Annadurai also said that India has decided to go solo in the Chandrayan-II project, without taking help from Russian space agency and that the project is expected to be launched by 2018.
