Foreigner leaps from airport building

A foreign man was critically injured after he jumped from the fourth floor of Suvarnabhumi airport’s car park building on Thursday, police said.

The man, a German aged 44, made the jump at about 4pm from an elevated walkway connecting the Zone 3 car park building and the passenger terminal.

Police arrived at the scene after paramedics took him to Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital where he was being treated for severe injuries to his head and neck.

They found a pool of blood at the exit of the car park building, Pol Col Kittipob Chumpoonuch, chief of Suvarnabhumi airport police station, said.

He said CCTV footage showed the man deliberately dived over the walkway railing. Black luggage was found at the spot where he jumped.

The man's name has not been released until his relatives have been notified.
