Jamie Dornan paints quite a picture. In an interview for the February issue of British GQ, the Once Upon a Time hunk described what it's like to film sex scenes like the ones in the upcoming, highly anticipated film adaptation of E L James' erotic novel Fifty Shades of Grey, in which Dornan stars as S&M-loving billionaire Christian Grey — and managed to avoid any full-frontal exposure.
"Your dignity is intact as much as it's all tucked away in a little flesh-colored bag," he told the mag. "As a guy you put all your essentials in a little bag and you tie it up like a little bag of grapes and it's tucked away. It's quite a peculiar thing to do every day."
Dornan went on to talk about his research for the film, which costars Dakota Johnson as the timid Anastasia Steele. As he revealed to Elle UK last month, he visited a sex dungeon in preparation for the role.
"In the course of researching this character, I have seen the reality very closely," he elaborated to British GQ. "I can tell you from an alarmingly first-hand perspective it's not altogether sexy. But I've been in a dungeon with a lukewarm beer while a dominant has had some fun with his submissive and it was very playful and jovial and not at all dark and serious. There was a lot of laughter…"
Generally speaking, the married father of one isn't fazed by so-called risque sexual predilections. "I'm an extremely liberal person, I don't give a f–k," he shared. "If people are into that, they're into that."
As for criticism of such preferences? "By the way, if people make such a hoo-hah about the violence against women aspect of it, it's far more common for men to be the submissive," he said. "And it's consensual! There's weirder s–t than that."
For instance: "I think plane spotting is far weirder than S&M," he told the mag, referring to the pastime of watching, observing, and logging aircraft. "That I really don't get. I can understand why people are into S&M, but standing outside Heathrow Terminal 5 waiting for Ryanair to come in?"
