I bought 2 of these mice, because someone I know goes through them as often as a car going though a red light... Anyway, they "get the job done," I just wish they had a different version of mouse that came with 5 buttons.Pros:+ Affordable.+ Lightweight.+ Mouse buttons feel good, and the clicking sound they make seems standard.Cons:- The red sensor light is overly-bright (see attached pic).- The body is somewhat smaller than I thought it was (I have big hands).Take a look at the two pics I uploaded. I recommend this mouse to anyone seeking a basic mouse!

    I bought a couple of these to use with some community laptops in case people do not want to use the traditional touchpad. They were not purchased to be used for gaming or some other high end use so I figured a low-cost version would be more than adequate. They were delivered quickly and are exactly what I was expecting. The main unit is a little light weight but they have worked well so far and I think they will continue to work for what we need them for. The wheel turns freely and the optical sensor does what it's supposed to do. I did notice the packaging on one of the two seemed to have been opened before. The plastic inside the box was just a little off, but since they were fulfilled by Amazon, I'm guessing it may have been a returned item that was resold. It doesn't bother me since both mice worked just fine. I'm guessing if it was returned, it's probably just because someone was being extra picky or didn't like the color, size, or taste of it. Just kidding, I hope they weren't tasted...

    Have to echo everyone else who's reviewed this mouse. After my comes-in-the-box Dell mouse started double-clicking for me, I needed a new mouse. I hate just going to the store and not knowing what's good and what's not, so I did my research and ordered a replacement on Amazon. Though this mouse didn't have as many reviews as many of the other "big name" brands, it did have all positive ones.

    It works great and was easy to install (after I wrestled my PC out of its cubby). It's even the same general shape and size as my previous Dell mouse, so there's no "learning curve" when it comes to comfort.

    As one other reviewer said, it does have a somewhat louder click than previous mice I've used, including the Dell. But I'm sure I'll get used to it quickly, especially for this price.

    Since I've only had it for a day, I can't comment on longevity.

    So far so good. I have a V7 mouse that has lasted for 4 years on one of our laptops but unfortunately, it's no longer available on Amazon and I haven't been able to find one anywhere else. I have gone through mice like crazy on this laptop (I feel like a cat).. I saw this V7 mouse being offered for under $5 as an addon, so I grabbed it. It's comfortable, feels very sturdy, no crazy lights, no cheap clear plastic parts, nothing special, it just works. When you click on the buttons, they work quickly and easily. The cord looks very sturdy. Hopefully this one will work as long as the other V7 I have..

    You're thinking of buying this mouse because you want a simple wired mouse with all the basic functions, and you may be willing to pay three bucks more to make sure you get something that is not cheap.

    Despite the extra three bucks, this mouse is cheap in one aspect, and that makes the whole thing very frustrating to work with: The scrolling wheel will turn under my finger, but it is not engaging the mechanism, and not scrolling my page. I have to press harder to get the wheel to turn, and I frequently end up clicking the wheel, which is not the function I want. (That creates a fixed point on your screen, and moving your mouse above or below this point causes you screen to scroll up or down, fast or slow, depending on the distance from the point you move the cursor to.)

    This special effect did not happen immediately after receiving it. But after 5 months as my primary mouse, the wheel's lack of friction has rendered it almost useless.

    How difficult is it to achieve a non-slidey wheel? I've never had any other mouse I've used do this. In fact, I don't know how they managed to screw up the design so this happens. It's a mystery.

    Don't buy a mystery. Buy something that works.

    For the most part mice either work or they don't. This one works reliably and well. It was actually more of an adjustment than I expected and there are a couple of things I wasn't expecting.

    Characteristics I wasn't expecting
    =======================================

    * The first thing I noticed was that this mouse is very sensitive. That is, moving the mouse a short distance moves the pointer on the screen quite a ways. This is adjustable at the operating system level so it's not a big deal, but it was quite interesting. It's much more sensitive than the mouse it just replaced. You get used to it after a little bit, but if you move from one computer to another a lot it might make sense to calibrate them so they are equally sensitive.

    * This mouse is a bit shorter and more round than other mice I use. Nothing extreme, but the picture makes it look a little longer than it is. It's kind of squat. I guess I kind of prefer a longer, hourglass-shaped mouse. You get used to it pretty quickly.

    * This mouse has a little more texture than you normally get. There are little bumps on the lower edges where you grap the mouse and the top is textured as well. Not a big deal one way or another, but my other mice are smoother. Some people probably love texture...I'm pretty indifferent to it.

    Couple of things I didn't like
    ===================================

    Really my complaints are all about the scroll wheel.

    * All mouse wheels have ridges internally that rub against something so that if the wheel moves at all it moves like 5 or 10 degrees. This mouse is no different. What is different is that the friction is greater. It has a relatively positive click from one scroll position to the next and little higher friction than I prefer. Still it's within the range of normal and acceptable. Maybe it will wear down over time or something.

    * The thing I really don't like is the third button, which is activated when you push the scroll wheel down. I use my third button all the time (Linux user), so this matters to me. They set the resistance pretty high so you really have to press it to get a third button actuation. The upside of this is that you never get accidental middle clicks while you are scrolling. The downside is that it's relatively hard to get that middle click when you want it. I would have preferred an easier middle click. This is accentuated by the fact that the mouse is short so you end up holding your fingers a little farther forward than on longer, differently shaped mice.

    * The scroll wheel squeaks when you scroll it.

    Still, this mouse works reliably and was inexpensive. I like it much better than many expensive mice I have tried. For me the scroll wheel and shape are not quite optimal, but for some people this may be the perfect mouse.

    Update: a month or so later
    =============================

    I have completely gotten used to every aspect of this mouse. I think I'm going to replace all my other mice so I have the same experience no matter which computer I'm using. After my adjustment period there was only one thing that continued to bother me and that is the squeaky mouse wheel. Finally I sprayed a little teflon powder in there on the sides of the wheel. It silenced the squeak and left me with a good mouse. Next time I'll use graphite instead, which will not leave white residue in hard-to-reach locations.

    Anyway, good mouse. Still takes a bit more force to push the middle wheel than would be optimal but I've gotten used to it so now other mice feel funny to me. Goes to show that you like things you are used to and it's pretty easy to get used to new stuff.
