Indie Trailer Sunday: Vincent Cassel in 'Mesrine: Killer Instinct'

Now this looks awesome! Today's trailer is for a French film called Mesrine: Killer Instinct, starring one of my favorite French actors, Vincent Cassel, as France's Public Enemy Number 1 - Jacques Mesrine. Most may not know who Mesrine was - a French gangster who robbed 32 banks and escaped from 4 high security prisons, which earned him that "Public Enemy N°1" title. There are some beautiful shots in this trailer, and as always Cassel looks like he delivers an impeccable performance. At least good enough to win the "French Oscar" for Best Actor. Plus, it's being called the "French Scarface", so you know its got to be good. Enjoy!

The story of french gangster Jacques Mesrine (Vincent Cassel), before he was known as Public Enemy N°1.

Mesrine: Killer Instinct, aka L'instinct de mort, is directed by French filmmaker Jean-François Richet, of Inner City, All About Love and the recent Assault on Precinct 13 remake (dang, really?). The screenplay was written by Richet and Abdel Raouf Dafri, who worked on "La commune" and a draft of Un Prophete. It's based on Jacques Mesrine's own book, which I don't believe is available in English. The film won the César Award (French version of the Oscars) for Best Director, Best Actor (Vincent Cassel) and Best Sound. Music Box Films will be bringing Mesrine: Killer Instinct to limited US theaters August 27th later this month.

Brilliant film - I sat and watched the 4 hours back to back. But to be honest they probably could have made it into 3 films... Great Show though.

i've seen this film last year in a cinema in germany and i have to say that its quite good and in parts pretty intense. but when i saw it, it was called "public enemie no 1"?

outstanding - and like alex said.......there are some beautiful shots in the movie...........it looks like a very stylish gangster film. suddenly, afflecks "town" doesn't look so good.

anybody else notice the song? French version of I'm A Man by Black Strobe (it itself is a cover), which was used heavily in RocknRolla. Looks cool anyway!

4 Hours long?! I'm sure it's good, but they really should have split it into 2 films. It's really hard to watch a film that's 4 hours long regardless of how good it is.

This has been released in the UK on dvd and Bluray for about 3 months now....its part one and part two so its not a 4 hour film! Order it from Amazon.co.uk brilliant films!!

Indeed these movies came out like one and a half year ago in Europe. It´s a true masterpiece. Cassel is perfect in this french action film about a bankrobber who thinks he´s a revolutionary.

Wasnt as good as i would have thought.. It was so hyped. Vincent Cassel is great in it and he is one of my favourite french actors. The story "BEHIND" the movie is amazingly interesting, but the movie didnt fill my exceptions. Still totally worth it. Funny how its coming so late in the states, would have thought this movie would do well for "a foreign movie" in the states.

To be honest....disappointing films....boring/cliche etc....bad boy moves up Gangster Ladder etc...no real surprises for me....just re-rent Goodfellas

Part 1 = Mesrine: Killer Instinct Part 2 = Mesrine: Public Enemy No. 1 I've seen part one, and it's good stuff. Compelling and intense, if requiring a bit of suspension of disbelief at times (which is typical for movies like it anyway).
