New Philadelphia City Schools Board of Education, July 20 meeting

KEY ACTION Renewed a contract with the city for a school resource officer for the 2015-16 school year.

Under the contract, the city will provide one uniformed officer to patrol school grounds and in a marked police cruiser. This district will pay the police department $43.80 per hour for up to 40 hours per week to cover the wage of the officer and the cost of providing the cruiser. The cost will be covered with Federal Rural Schools grant money.

The city maintains the ability to recall the officer during an emergency or when there is a labor shortage within the police department. A clause in the contract allows the district to terminate the agreement by providing a 30-day written notice. Any prepaid hours not used will be refunded to the district.

OTHER ACTION

• Approved a contract with East Central Ohio ESC for educational services including psychology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, preschool, educational management information systems and classroom aides.

• Approved a three-year contract with school psychologist Dallas Winrod for $77,919.

• Approved the following substitute teacher for the 2015-16 school year: Jaclyn Abrecht, Bruce Alexander, Mary Ann Angel, David Bear, Carolyn Behrendt, Mark Behrendt, Robert Blickensderfer, Stormi Clinton, Breanna Clum-Colaner, Tom Daniels, Steve Hoagland, Debbie Humbert, Julie Hykes, Eileen Kerns, Kathy Kosmides, Joel Kunkle, Sarah Lehman, Jojo Liebig, Derrick Mayle, Wendy McAfee, Leigh Ann McCray, Linda Myers, Wendy Neading, Nathan Nordine, Debbie Pallas, Amber Pottmeyer, Amy Rodriguez, Dan Roseberry, Melissa Schumacher, Donna Simmons, Sally Stroup, Phillip Tidrick, Linda Wendling, Rebecca Welfley, Margy Wherley, Craig Williams, Harry Wood and Ted Yenny.

• Approved the Interagency Agreement and Transition Agreement with HARCATUS Head Start.
