LED Continues to Grow

The LED is proud to welcome two new members.  Mike Miller, Director of Operations at Lake Erie Medical Services, and Jane Fisher, Creative Change Facilitator, have joined the LED Committee.  Mike Miller is serving on the Health Services Cluster and Jane Fisher is serving on the Communications Subcommittee. The LED continues to be a place that gathers business, education, and government entities to discuss the most important challenges facing our economy. Councilman Willie Rosas and Fredonia Mayor Keefe were guests at the October 16 committee meeting.   They updated the committee on the current status of the Regional Water District plan as a part of the Waterfront Development Cluster report. Other guests included Jeff Belt, Co-Chair of the Regional Economic Development Council, Don McCord from the IDA, and Patrick Stokes from the Chadwick Bay Regional Development Corporation.

For additional information on the LED contact Jamie Thompson at 366-4892 or by e-mail jthompson@nccfoundation.org.

NCCF Scholarship Funds

Douglas A. Greenleaf Leadership Award

Douglas A. Greenleaf was born in Westfield in 1973, graduated from Westfield Academy & Central School in 1991, and went on to attend the United States Air Force Academy, Class of 1996. Douglas was "everyone's hero" according to the Air Force Academy. He was the personification of an Academy Cadet and an award-winning member of the Academy Flying Team. Douglas' life was tragically cut short in 1994 at age 21 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

It was important to Douglas' family that he be remembered. For that reason this scholarship was established in his memory. Because of his exemplary character, this award is given to a senior who has led by example and who has been enthusiastically involved in life. Applicants should have held leadership positions, always maintaining pride in school and community with the desire to help others.

To learn more about this scholarship or other scholarships held at NCCF, contact Nancy Mosier at 716-366-4892 or by e-mail at nmosier@nccfoundation.org

Her plans are to attend graduate school for Theatre Arts and Theatre Education.  Kaitlyn shares that "My main motivation is wanting to make a difference.
