Poor Students, Rich Teaching: Mindsets for Change

Join us for this new book study based on the work of Eric Jensen. Discover practical and research-based strategies to support all students, regardless of circumstance, to enjoy learning and graduate high school prepared for college and/or career. This thorough resource details the necessary but difficult work that teachers must do to establish the foundational changes essential to positively impact students in poverty. Organized tools and resources are provided to help teachers effectively implement these essential changes.

In this 15-hour course, participants will:
- Understand the urgency of poverty in the United States.
- Gain four powerful mindsets to bring change.
- Build effective relationships with students, and help them see achievement as a reachable target.
- Create a welcoming classroom climate where all students love to learn and are engaged for success.

Participants will receive a copy of Eric Jensen's Poor Students, Rich Teaching: Mindsets for Change

Location: Carey Institute, Rensselaerville, NY
Dates/Times: 11/4/16 (4pm-11pm), 11/5/16 (8am-4pm),
Instructor: Lynne Ogren, Greater Capital Region Teacher Center
Fee: The total tax exempt cost is $159 for a double room or $168 for a single. If participants pay on their own, tax will then be charged and the rate with be $175 (double) or $185 (single). Carey Conference Center will accept school credit cards and purchase orders with a tax exempt form. Contact CCC at 518-797-5100 for payment.
