Breakfast sandwiches are the fastest-growing morning food choice at restaurants, new market research shows. Try the trend at home with one of these yummy combos, all 325 calories or less.

Cinnamon Raisin Grilled Cheese

  • Place 1/2 sliced apple and 2 slices deli-style turkey meat on one slice 100 percent whole wheat cinnamon raisin bread. (Sprinkle lemon juice and cinnamon on other apple half and save for snack later.)
  • Top with 1 slice reduced-fat cheddar cheese.
  • Place in toaster oven with a plain slice of bread. When cheese is melted, remove both halves from toaster and sandwich together.

Open-Face Pear Sandwich

  • Spread 2 tablespoons part-skim ricotta on a 6 1/2-inch whole wheat pita.
  • Top with 1/2 sliced pear and toast in toaster oven until ricotta cheese is melted.
  • Remove and drizzle with 1/2 teaspoon honey. (Sprinkle lemon juice on other pear half and save for snack for later.)

PB&S

  • Toast two slices of whole wheat bread.
  • Spread one slice with 1 tablespoon peanut butter.
  • Top with 4 slices strawberries and the other bread slice.

Morning Monte Cristo

  • Top a low-fat whole grain waffle (such as Van's All Natural 97% Fat Free Waffles) with 3 slices honey-baked deli ham and 1 ounce reduced-fat Swiss cheese.
  • Place in toaster oven with a plain waffle, and toast until cheese melts.
  • Remove from toaster, drizzle ham-and-cheese waffle with 1 teaspoon light pancake syrup, and top with toasted plain waffle.

Bagel and Lox

  • Spread 1 tablespoon reduced-fat cream cheese on a toasted mini whole wheat bagel (such as Thomas' 100% Whole Wheat Mini Bagels).
  • Between bagel halves, layer 1 ounce lox, 2 red-onion slices, and 2 tomato slices.

Banana'wich

  • Spread 1 tablespoon peanut butter on a hot dog bun.
  • Add 1 small banana, sliced, and drizzle with 1/2 teaspoon honey.

Eggs-in-a-Wrap

  • Spread 1 ounce soft goat cheese on a 100-calorie whole wheat wrap (such as a La Tortilla Factory Smart & Delicious 100 Calorie Tortilla).
  • Add 1 egg, scrambled, and 1 cup baby spinach leaves.
  • Fold wrap.
