The Flow of Your Content

I was talking to another WA member who needed a little help with the content flow so I thought there might be a few more that need to get this explained ...

So how does it all this fit together with articles, posts, pages, twitter and other social media? I created this picture to make it easy to see:

Purple – ways to get traffic

Green – your site

Blue – the merchant site where you send your traffic to earn commission

Ways to Get Traffic to Your Site

There are numerous ways to get traffic to your site posting articles at Street Articles and Ezinearticles are one way. You can also post your articles on 2.0 sites like Squidoo and Hubpages.

Important is that you use the links allowed to point the visitors from your articles to your site. Use your keywords in the anchor text and point them to a relevant page or post on your website.

Another way is to use social media to drive traffic to your site.

The Flow on Your Site

You can either direct the visitor to a page or a post on your website. I use pages for bigger broader keywords for example ”how to train a dog” I could talk about how to train a dog to sit, I will then create a post on ”how to train a dog to sit” and point my visitors from the main page to that post.

If I promote a product called ”teach your dog how to sit, in 5 days” I would do a review page or post on the product and point to that from my ”how to train a dog to sit” post. Then I would have affiliate links going out from my review page to the Merchant site.

There are many ways to do this, this is just how I like to do it :).

Let me know if you have any questions,

Veronica

While I was reading this, something clicked in my head. Now, I'm seeing a huge error that I made during my two previous attempts at IM, and I think I know how to correct the problem! Thanks!

Hope it gave you some clarity! Sometimes it is easier to just see a picture of the flow.

Super stuff, a picture paints a thousand words is very true,
Thanks and regards
Hudson

Glad you liked it Hudson, pictures does make things clearer,
Veronica

Nice post! Incorporating link wheels work wonders.

Do you work with open or closed link wheels? Say SA - EZA - Hubpages would you close the gap between Hubpages and SA?? Which gives you the best result?

I wish you could watch Jays Wabinar of these, it is worth it's weight in gold. Here is a picture of a link wheel. The Red is your site, the yellow is 2.0 sites like hubpages, blogger, etc. and the Green can be articles from any directory. http://d.pr/i/xglD

So you close the wheels around the 2.0 sites with article directories ok make sense have you had good result with that? Do you backlink the linkwheel with social bookmarks for example?

I did not, I just followed the diagram. I will let you know how they produce, as I am just finishing the first one. I have been told it will work wonders, so we shall see. :)

Great Flow - going on my Fridge

Yeahh made it to Colins fridge :) glad you liked it

excellent , thank you very much, continually have to remind myself of this.

You are welcome Sir William, glad you enjoyed it

Great, great post. Sometimes we tend to complicate things and this really puts it into prospective! Thanks so much!

It doesn`t have to be complicated but we ourselves seem to make it harder than what it really is sometimes. Glad you liked it.

Good information, Veronica. Thank you!

You are welcome, wanted to make things clear in a simple way.

Awesome, thank you.

Glad your liked it :)

It is nice to see it put so simply, so even us beginners can understand it.

good article...most people are visual learners and this helps put in perspective what things do for you...

Thanks glad you liked it,
Veronica

I like your graph. It seems easy. I still feel like my brain is going to explode. I am having such a hard time keeping all these sites straight. Street articles needed a landing site other then my WA ones so I sign up for one site. (still don't know what I'm supposed to put on that one). Have my WA one. Also article on 2.0 site. More social networks, I only did facebook before, like twitter but I don't know who to follow. I'm pretty sure I have probably signed up for more, but my brain is just fried. How do you keep everything straight? Sorry, I think I just had some frustration today.

I feel your pain...I've only been going at this for a little bit myself but what I found is that the more poking around you do the better..I've also googled things when I didn't understand it and that helped...As far as my brain exploding I think it happened a few times so I took a few hours break..it's easy to get wrapped up with everything but remember to take a break...It will get easier with time...trust me I'm no expert but I found that instead of being lost most of the time I'm only lost some of the time now...keep it up...

My thinking stays straighter if i reverse engineer it. Start with where i know I am heading which is the merchant site. Then set up my website to link to there. Spend time to develop the website to have lots of great indepth content for the reader. Then move to articles and put good content there, but none that duplicates what is on my website. Link each article to the appropriate landing page on my site.

A longwinded way of saying: start with the bottom of Veronica's terrific and teachable graph, and work your way up. Make sense ?

one added thought. There's no rule that says you have to do all the ways of driving traffic to your website. Sounds like you are already doing articles especially SA. and maybe Facebook. So develop your abilities with those first ! When you are a bit relaxed with those, another will invite its way in.

Hello,
It sure can seem overwhelming in the beginning.
What I do is create an excel sheet. Vertically I put in all my pages and posts, horizontal I put in what I plan to do for traffic, ping, tweet, article to EZA, SA, Hubpages... when I have submitted my content and pointed my links to my main site I put an X in the column... That help me keep track of things, I know what I have done and what I need to do.

What is your main page?? Do you have a siterubix.com site? Have you chosen a niche to work with? Have you done any keyword research?

I will be happy to help you,
Veronica

Um, where's my "creative" credit? :P Excel? ROFL. Try Wunderlist: http://www.6wunderkinder.com/wunderlist Rich. x

I totally agree with Diane, start with a niche do some keyword research and find a merchant product to promote. Create your content on your website then start to drive traffic using one or two methods to start. If you feel comfortable with article writing and Facebook stick with that when you master it you can move to other ways of driving traffic.

Thanks Diane!

Veronica

@Rich there he is again criticizing... ok I will have a look at the modern way of doing things...

Thanks everyone for the advice. I am having a really bad week and think it came out today, new baby in my day care cries constantly on top of my confusion here, really taking a toll. Think I will take a step back for a day or so, de-stress and go back to my lessons. I finally had time to find some info on landing pages in kyle's articles. I will take all of you guys advice also. I have been doing this backwards, not thinking at all about what i will even be marketing and my articles are all over the place on topics, I need to get my thoughts together. Thanks, that put it in perspective

It is important that your content is relevant to what your visitors are looking for.

Veronica
