Regional Board Qualifications

I- What NCSY is All About
NCSY is the most effective and dynamic Jewish teenage outreach organization in North America. Being part of NCSY means connecting with positive Jewish role models and sharing in a range of exciting social and educational activities that welcome each Jewish teenager and encourage them to grow in their understanding and commitment to Judaism.

II- What being on Regional Board is all about
Being on the New England NCSY Regional Board means that you are an ambassador of NCSY in your school and community. Board members will attend and exhibit leadership at all NCSY events for which you are invited and will take the necessary steps and sacrifices in your personal schedule to see to your NCSY responsibilities.

III- Board Members must meet the following Criteria:
1- Currently an active member of NCSY and in grades 9-11
2- Commitment and pride in Jewish practice, and agree to be held to a higher standard on NCSY events.

IV. Responsibilities
In addition to the role-specific responsibilities outlined below, each REBO member is required to:
a. Attend and actively participate in all programs
b. Create connections and recruit other Jewish teens to NCSY
c. Participate in weekly learning
d. Collect money for scholarships through the New England NCSY Torah Fund
e. Attend National Leadership Boot Camp (August 27-30), and New England NCSY's Leadership Training Seminar (September 4-5). (tentative)

Elections, Voting, and Interview procedures will be sent out once we've reviewed your application.

President: is an incoming senior who serves as the spokesperson for all of Regional Board. The president delegates group project responsibilities and makes sure projects are accomplished. This person is a role model not only for fellow NCSYers, but for fellow REBO members as well. Regional VPs and President will meet with regional staff before shabbatons to provide input and take on a REBO project for each event.

Vice President: An incoming Junior or Senior who will work with the regional staff and chapter leaders to ensure new and exciting NCSY programming in their community. Regional VPs and President will meet with regional staff before shabbatons to provide input and take on a REBO project for each event. There may be up to 2 VPs.

Social Action & Yachad Liason: is responsible for spearheading at least one region-wide chesed project, either ongoing throughout the year or on a Regional Shabbaton. The role will also involve working with New England Yachad on joint events.

Fundraising and Merchandise: is responsible to raise $1,800 towards the NERNCSY Torah Fund. This position will make sure each REBO member has their tzedaka boxes on every shabbaton to collect money. You will also coordinate any merchandise sales.

Education/Gabbai: is responsible for recruiting NCSYers to give divrei torah and coordinate davening and layning on shabbatons. This REBO member is also there to help NCSYers with both content and delivery of Divrei Torah, and is encouraged to work with NCSY staff on other education initiatives.
