Royal Enfield Continental GT first ride

The Royal Enfield Continental GT is currently getting its world first ride in and around London in the hands of MCN Executive Editor Phil West.

Here are his first impressions: “At first glance the new Continental is a real step up for Enfield. It’s obviously a retro style bike mimicking the classic Continentals of the ‘60s and in terms of detailing and touches they’ve done a really good job.

“It’s got a pukka Monza style fuel cap, funky bar end mirrors, wire wheels, decent Brembo front brakes, swoopy single seat, chrome head lamp, in fact all the things you’d expect.

“To ride it’s boosted a little by a slightly bigger 535 version of its air cooled single which gives it a little more pep than Enfields up until now. And it’s light and sweet handling.

“I haven’t had a chance to wind it up on the open roads yet, but for what it is the signs are so far pretty good.
