BREWER, Maine — A longtime law enforcement official is hanging up his badge, according to city officials.
Brewer Public Safety Director Perry Antone, who has worked in law enforcement for 32 years, including 22 years in Brewer, has retired, according to a statement from City Manager Steve Bost.
With Antone’s retirement, Deputy Chief Jason Moffitt was appointed as the city’s new public safety director, according to Bost, and Capt. Chris Martin will take over as deputy chief.
Moffitt and Martin were sworn into their new roles by City Clerk Pam Ryan on Wednesday morning.
Antone’s career started with the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office. He became a Bureau of Intergovernmental Drug Enforcement agent before coming to Brewer.
Antone was the city’s first public safety director after serving as police chief.
Moffitt has been with the Brewer Police Department since 2000 and has served as a patrol sergeant, captain and deputy chief. He also is a trained incident commander, holding an ICS-400 designation.
Martin’s career in Brewer started in 1994 as a patrol officer, and he has logged more than 700 hours of specialized training in drug investigations.
